Employee Motivators: How to Get People Back in Office

How do you get people back into the office without throwing around directives or mandates? It’s a question leaders everywhere have been asking. The answer starts and ends with employee preferences. To drive office attendance, you need to understand what motivates people to make the commute.


We interviewed over 350 full time employees to understand how they feel about the office and the ways their company incentivises attendance. While free lunches are useful, connecting with other people plays an important role. We found that:

  • 64% of respondents were more likely to come into the office if they knew their team would be there
  • 40% of people prefer face time with leadership over other perks, like parking stipends
  • 70% of employees say they enjoy their time in the office or are indifferent to remote work
