Better manage your office with Slack

If you missed the news a few months ago, Robin now has a Slackbot. If you’ve used Slack, you’ll feel right at home asking it about what conference rooms are free at a particular time. When it comes to conference room scheduling, we’d like to think our Robinbot has a bit of each one of us inside, minus the whole human element of course.

But today I want to talk about more than finding the right room for your meeting (I know, the terror). Below are two ways you can use Slack within Robin get a better sense of what your day looks like and how you can best keep tabs on your office.

Send support services tickets to team channels

A few weeks ago we introduced the ability to report issues right from tablets. Simply put, you can now report an issue right from the room as it happens. A few of the use cases we’ve seen among early adopters:

  • Let IT know about the broken Apple TV that caused your meeting to start late
  •
  • Report a leak in the ceiling to facilities
  •
  • Ask the office admin to help coordinate your all-day team breakout session

Slack can be super useful here. You can use the Slack email integration to send Support Services tickets to team channels. Let’s say you have a facilities email account. By syncing that to a Slack channel, every time someone creates a facilities ticket, it will show up in that channel. Here's an example of what that might look like:

It’ll be an easier way for your team to stay on top of conference room issues, and make sure that everyone is aware of what’s going on around the office as it happens.

Slack can serve as your calendar and tell you what’s next

We all love our Google, Office or Exchange calendars. But sometimes it’s nice to have one place to be able to see what your day looks like, and then book meetings accordingly. With Slack, you can say “My Schedule 4/26” and Slack will return what your day looks like. From there, if you see an opening from 2-3pm, you know that that will be a great time to book a brainstorming meeting with your team -- for which Slack can help you find an open room for. Here’s what else it can do from a booking and scheduling perspective:

Simple conference room scheduling

Our Slack integration just scratches the surface for how we can be most helpful as you navigate through each day, one meeting at a time.Interested in learning more about what we’ve been up to? Check out our blog.
